Welcome to my new blog on WordPress.  Please excuse any mistakes as I learn a new program.

I’m an illustrator and in the last two years I’ve illustrated five children’s books.  You can view my illustrations on my website, www.jeanniespaintings.com.  This is the first year I’ve been able to devote myself to illustration full time.  For the last 32 years, I’ve been teaching art in elementary and secondary schools.  As I recently retired from teaching art, I’m free to draw and paint all the time!

Here are some of my recently illustrations:

Thanks for looking in.

Hello!  I’m an illustrator who lives in St. Louis, MO.  In addition to being an illustrator, I am also an art teacher with 32 years experience teaching art in elementary and secondary schools in the U.S. and in England.  I retired from teaching in June 2016 and have been illustrating full time since then.  My style varies from realistic to whimsical and I illustrate using watercolor, gouache, ink, Photoshop, acrylic and oil.  You can see my art on my website, www.jeanniespaintings.  I’m a member of SCBWI (The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and have a portfolio on their website (www.scbwi.org).  In the last two years, I’ve illustrated five children’s books and they are listed on my website.  The most recent is “Clickity’s Clock”.

“Clickity’s Clock” centers around the idea that some young children do not want to grow up or change.  In Mrs. Clark’s Kindergarten class there are four children who do not want to either be in school or who do not want to go on to first grade.  What should she do?  Mrs. Clark has the only answer: call on Dr. H.M.S. Clickity, the almost famous inventor of the well-known but seldom seen Clickity Clock.

The book is available in paperback and ebook on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
